Hey Everyone!!! 🙂
“Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfast in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life” 2 Nephi 31:20
Change is definitely something that keeps you on your toes. Last week, I was adjusting back to the Visitors’ Center, having my proselyting area change to half the stake, and being with my new companion, Sister Cerda Garcia. We had such a fun first week and I loved ever minute of it. I learned so much from her. Despite any adjusting, she helped make it all easy, and even prepared me for the next big change. Our president decided to make another change after the transfer. Sister Cerda Garcia was moved to a different area and I have a new companion. My new companion is pretty much the dark version of my sister Avalon, it cracks me up.
Her name is Sister Montero and she is from the Dominican Republic! She hasn’t been on her mission too long, and she’s a great. What’s crazy though is that she is Spanish called, and is in the English area with me. This is the first Spanish speaking companion I have had that doesn’t have a lot of English. Our mission president felt this would be a great opportunity for us to work together and help Sister Montero feel confident in her English and learn more. When he said that, I felt right about it. Its challenging but we have made it fun and came up with unique ways for her to learn more English and teach me more Spanish. I feel like we are growing together. Yesterday in church I encouraged her to bear her testimony but she was too nervous. The next meeting we went to, she got up an did it without me even saying anything. I was shocked. And she did an amazing job! It was super tender for me to see her do that.
I have felt that since the split of my area, it has been harder to teach people. My mission president encouraged us to do several things and promised us blessings for each one. Since the change in companions and being back to the Visitors’ Center, I have been struggling to do the things he has asked, and feel super behind. But I have felt really strongly that as I strive together with my companion to better do these things I will have miracles. I have applied 2 Nephi 31:20 a lot to this week. When I start to get upset or bothered, the first chance I get, I go to my knees and plead for strength. And in every moment it has been given. Any time we want to be successful we need to rely on the Lord 100%.
He also told me that he wanted to have her with a companion that would love, support, and encourage her, which made me feel good. So whenever things get tough, I remember that this was something inspired from God for the both of us. Its been a difficult adjustment because things have been all over the place and it stresses me out, BUT! here’s the difference. Normally when I am overwhelmed I feel weak and inadequate, where as although things are different right now, I feel so much stronger and don’t have any doubt. I am 100% confident in that when God has something he wants you to do for someone else, he gives you all the strength needed to do so.
